In 2012, 34 year-old Faiz Bibi, a mother of 11, lost her husband to Hepatitis C.
Her husband was a master tailor which meant that they could live a simple, modest life and their children could receive an education.
When he died, everything changed.
Faiz and her 11 children moved into a tent adjacent to her inlaws, who lived in just one room for the entire family. Both families lived in miserable, cramped and unsanitary conditions. Faiz could no longer afford to send all her children to school. It was more important to use that money to feed them, but even then, most nights she went to sleep hungry. In the winter, they suffered from the cold and wind that blew into the tent. In the summer, the heavy rains would seep in.
Your generosity enabled Al-Khair to build a permanent house for Faiz and her 11 children. The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, electricity and access to clean drinking water.
With the grace of God and because of your continuous support, the children no longer sleep on top of each other in a tent that sways in the wind and leaks water. They no longer suffer from health issues from drinking unclean water. Faiz still struggles without a husband and with 11 children to take care of but now, she has a clean, safe place that her children can call home.
