Water is Life
Access to clean water and proper sanitation is not just a necessity for survival but also a fundamental human right. In Islam, water holds a significant place, being mentioned 63 times in the Quran, highlighting its importance and the immense reward in providing it as charity.
Globally, water scarcity, poor water quality, and lack of sanitation facilities deeply affect food security, education, and livelihoods. As of 2017, the World Health Organization estimated that 2.3 billion people lacked access to basic sanitation, and 844 million did not have safe drinking water.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied providing water” (Abu Dawud).
