“The example of those who spend their wealth to seek the pleasure of Allah and to make firm (their faith) from (the depths of) their souls is like a garden on a foothill on which came a heavy rain, and it yielded its produce twofold. Even if a heavy rain does not come to it, a light drizzle is enough, and Allah is watchful of what you do???
Qur’an (2:265)
.
How fortunate are we to be able to fill our book of deeds with something as simple as giving in the way of Allah (SWT). In the third chapter of the Qur’an, Allah (SWT) makes it clear to us that he is omniscient, so spending our wealth with the intention to please Allah (SWT) will only result in doubled reward.
.
This Ramadan, we should reflect on this Ayah and be grateful for the wealth we are able to give in the way of Allah (SWT) whilst many others cannot. As we fast with our family and friends, thinking about what delicious delights await us for Iftar from the comfort of our homes, it’s time to think about how Allah (SWT) is most benevolent, for He has made it so easy for us to please Him.
.
Spending wealth to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) includes supporting those in most need through charity, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Whether you donate £5 or £500, charity is about giving for the right reasons: seeking the pleasure of Allah and getting closer to Him through this act.
.
Why not seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) by donating towards our Shelter programme, which provides victims of conflict, persecution and natural disasters with the opportunity to re-build what they have lost? In 2014, an astounding 59.9 million in the world were reported as refugees – internally displaced or seeking asylum, with the situation only continuing to worsen.
.
Al-Khair Foundation is motivated to aid people to have a safe and secure roof over their heads through temporary shelters and long-term housing projects for survivors of natural disasters. So far we’ve has managed to help 25,000 victims of the 2014 Pakistan floods, by placing them in 5,000 tents, providing them with temporary shelter. In Nepal after the destructing earthquake, our efforts saw 700 people relocated and provided with sleeping bags and safe shelter. We also commissioned innovative shipping container shelters to 500 Syrian refugees in Turkey.
.
This Ramadan, you too can seek the pleasure of Allah and shelter the displaced and destitute by digging deep and giving what you can. Whether the amount is big or small, just remember Allah (SWT) will reward you in twofold!
