CEO Saif Ahmad has recently returned from his trip to Somaliland where he met H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo. He was joined by a high level delegation consisting of top representatives from AKF Somaliland. During the meeting with President Silanyo, Saif was able to brief him on AKF’s projects in Somaliland which began in 2012 and consist of Water, Livelihood and Seasonal programmes. Our ongoing water tanker truck project has been implemented in Somaliland for the last seven years. Currently, AKF has provided funding to build deep boreholes in five regions, of which three have been completed and are now fully functional, serving the local population with safe and clean water.
During the meeting, AKF Somaliland officials commended the government for their collaboration and support and Saif announced that AKF will continue the provision of aid projects such as water reservoir and borehole digging in Somaliland. Saif also extended an invitation to President Silanyo to attend the 2016 World Muslim Leadership Forum (WMLF), which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in October. The WMLF conference is an opportunity for Muslims to come together to discuss contemporary issues affecting Muslim communities across the globe. By bringing together prominent thinkers, activists, leaders and entrepreneurs from around the world, the conference aims to build a stronger, healthier and more sustainable global society based on a deeper understanding of and mutual respect for those of other faiths.
President Silanyo was extremely grateful of the work that AKF have committed to over the last few years and thanked Saif Ahmad and Al-Khair Foundation for all of the continued support towards development projects and efforts in bringing humanitarian aid and support to those who are less fortunate.
