Mawlana Izhaar Ahmed Qasmi of Croydon (Sabiq Imaam Jami Masjid Croydon , UK has passed away on the morning of Monday, December 30, 2019 [3rd Jamad al-Ula 1441]
He is the father of Imam Qasim Rashid Ahmed of Al-Khair Founation and IQTRA TV.
Mawlana Izhar was a great ‘alim and waliyy of Allah swt. His ‘ilmi works include Izhar ul Quran, a 10-volumes Tafsir of the Qur’an. He opened the first Masjid in South London in the early 80’s which today hosts between two to three thousand musallis on Jumu’ah. It was known that he never accepted a penny for his public services and counseling. He performed 42 hajjs in his lifetime. It was from his practice to recite 1-2 Qur’ans daily.
The latter part of his life Mawlana Izhar spent bedridden and partially paralyzed. Despite that he never complained and continued his writing and teaching. He was originally from Deoband, India, and spent part of his life in Kenya as an Imam.
As mentioned, Mawlana Izhar is the father of Imam Qasim Rashid Ahmed, also a great alim. He has built schools and hospitals all over the Islamic world, most recently in Gaza.
Mawlana Izhar is the father-in-law of Mawlana Abdurrahman Saleem of Elgin, Illinois, son of Mawlana Abdullah Saleem.
Today, communities in India, Kenya, UK, US and other parts of the world mourn the loss of a great waliyy of Allah swt.
May Allah swt forgive his sins and elevate his ranks and grant him Jannatul Firdaws without reckoning.
May Allah swt accept his efforts of deen and allow them to continue until the Day of Judgment through his family, students and works. May Allah swt grant his family sabr jamil.
