The Prophet saw said ā€œthe likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and affection is like that of a body. When one limb of it complains, the rest of the body reacts with sleeplessness and feverā€ (Bukhari and Muslim)

ā€œWhenever a disaster strikes we always aim to be on the ground within 24 hours.ā€ Imam Qasim

A humanitarian emergency is an urgent situation in which there is clear evidence that an event or series of events has occurred which is either causing human suffering or imminently threatening lives and livelihoods. With the world constantly changing around us, both natural as well as political crises seem to be occurring more and more frequently. It is also the case that developing nations tend to suffer disproportionately from such events, due to a variety of factors such as poor infrastructure or leadership.

Al-Khair Foundation understands this reality and is therefore quick to deploy expert teams which deliver food, water, shelter, clothing and medical aid in the immediate aftermath of a crisis - wherever and whatever it may be. In 2018 we responded to a severe drought in Somaliland by providing the people of Gunburaha and Salahlay with fresh water and food packs, ultimately benefitting 11,700 individuals. We also received commendation from the Pakistan government for our flood relief efforts back in 2015.

Orphans are among the most vulnerable members of society.

In developing nations where children may already suffer the effects of war, poverty, and natural disaster, losing one or both parents is often synonymous with losing their lifeline.

These orphans are left to fend for themselves - sometimes from a very young age - and are susceptible to hunger, disease and exploitation. Their access to education is limited, their security threatened, and their futures bleak. Not to mention the severe grief and trauma that they will burden for the rest of their lives.

Al-Khair Foundation believes that it is our collective duty to care for these children, wherever in the world they may be. Through our longstanding sponsorship programme, donors can provide an orphan with all the basic necessities of life: food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education.

On top of this, what sets us apart from other sponsorship programmes is that we value the emotional, mental and psychological wellbeing of the orphan as well. Al-Khair Foundation understands that the loss of one or both parents can be extremely destabilising for a child. As such, we offer individualised psychosocial support and counselling.

When you sponsor an orphan through Al-Khair Foundation, you can rest assured that they are being given holistic care to secure a brighter future

Yemen
An estimated 2.3 million children under the age of 5 are currently suffering from acute malnutrition in Yemen. 400,000 of these children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition, and could tragically die if they do not receive urgent treatment. With COVID-19 already spreading rapidly in the country, Yemen is trying to grapple with widespread food shortages whilst fighting the devastating pandemic.

More than five years of conflict has deepened Yemenā€™s poverty, devastated its infrastructure, and caused widespread hunger and suffering. The Yemen crisis is getting worse, day by day.
Your donations can help Al-Khair teams in Yemen deliver urgently needed food, medicines and medical supplies. Donate Now and help save lives in Yemen.

Million have been displaced and the economy is on the brink of collapse. Half of all hospitals are no longer functioning, more than 20 million people are food insecure and 40% of children are not in school. Now Coronovirus threatens their lives too. The UN warns that the death toll from COVID-19 could exceed the combined total from war and disease. The vulnerable communities of Yemen are in desperate need of help.

We cannot just stand by, we must act now.
