Abu Huraira reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. (Sahi Muslim 2699)

“Healthcare and emergency medical aid are some of the most important services that a humanitarian organisation delivers. Especially in a region where the healthcare system is fragile and violence and war is often likely.

“A beneficiary can often wait for food for a few days and even water but emergency medical aid is something that is needed immediately as life depends upon it”. (Imam Qasim)

Health and Healthcare in Gaza

For many years, the situation for families in Gaza has been one of sorrow. With little to no access to medication, or specialist help, the mothers and children of Gaza are in dire need of aid.

Our Al-Khair hospital, located within Gaza, is the first of its kind in the area, treating over 500,000 people every year. However, we can do more and key specialist equipment is still needed, which would allow us to treat more people faster, more effectively, and for a greater variety of ailments.

Israel’s illegal closure of Gaza has accelerated the de-development of its healthcare system through restrictions on the movement of people and goods through economic damage and impoverishment. Gaza’s health services are therefore unable to develop in line with the needs of its population.
The UN Office of the Special Co-Ordinator for the Middle East Peace Process highlighted that:

“While the population in Gaza has doubled since 2000, the number of functioning primary health care clinics in Gaza has decreased from 56 to 49, resulting in crowded conditions, decreased doctor-patient time and reduced quality of service.”

This closure regime also impedes the professional development of health workers, who are commonly denied travel permits by Israel to take up opportunities outside Gaza, adding to shortages of doctors and nurses in key specialists.

In 2018 only “15% of applicants to exit the Gaza Strip on behalf of health partners and the Ministry of Health were approved” (WHO)

Access and movement restrictions.

Due to lack of adequate health care and specialist services a large number of patients need to be referred out of Gaza for treatment in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem or abroad. Medical referrals including oncology, cardiology and neonatal care are regularly obstructed.
The Al-Khair hospital is crucial because it is able to deliver some of these essential services. This is a landmark project for the charity and the people of Palestine.

The Palestinian people are deserving of our help and the humanitarian suffering that they have had to endure over many years has left people hopeless and in desperate need.

Poverty in Gaza that 85% of the population are in need of food aid just to survive.

When you donate to Al-Khair Foundation you help restore dignity and hope to those that have nowhere else to turn.
We have a number of projects in the region and provide a whole range of services to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Gaza is described as the “world’s largest open air prison.
