As part of Lloyd’s Banking Group’s wider commitment to helping Britain prosper, Al-Khair Foundation attended the City Giving Day 2019 event to showcase our aid work across the world and demonstrate how we support the poor and vulnerable. Several charities including ScotsCare, Marie Curie, Macmillan Cancer Support, Crime Stoppers, Crisis UK and Pathways were also present. The event demonstrated the wide variety of charity work being implemented across London, from international humanitarian and development work to cancer support and help for the homeless.
Shuaib Yusaf, CEO of Al-Khair Foundation explained, “this year’s City Giving Day showcased the excellent work that is carried out by charities across London and events like these are a chance to recognise the important role of faith-based charities too. We are pleased to be chosen by Lloyd’s to showcase Al-Khair Foundation’s work. We’ve engaged with many keen volunteers today who are looking to give back to society”.
Al-Khair Foundation presented volunteering opportunities to dozens of interested Lloyd’s staff, charity representatives and members of the public. City Giving Day was hosted by the Lord Mayor of London’s office, with Alderman Timothy Hailes who came along to meet the charities and learn more about the important work we are doing in the UK and abroad.
