The people of Afghanistan are in a desperate situation. After years of war, now the situation has got much worse.

A humanitarian crisis of incredible proportions grips the country and people are worried for their own lives and the lives of their families.

• The population of Afghanistan is 41.7 million people
• 22.8 million people are facing acute food insecurity
• 8.7 million people face emergency levels of food insecurity
• Over 1 million children under 5 are suffering from or are at risk of malnutrition

Mothers and fathers are having to watch their children suffer because lack of food

The country is on the brink of economic collapse. With local currency at an all-time low and food prices on the rise.

Acute malnutrition is above emergency thresholds in 25 out of 34 provinces and is expected to worsen, with almost half of children under 5 and a quarter of pregnant and breastfeeding women needing life-saving nutrition support in the next twelve months.
