Al-Khair Foundation was proud to be one of few charities invited to take part in a prestigious London Charity Day, held by Lloyds Banking Group and attended by the Lord Mayor of the City of London. The ‘Charity Giving Day’ event was an excellent opportunity to recruit volunteers and engage with Financial industry representatives and members of the public on the work of Al-Khair Foundation.
Al-Khair Foundation showcased its charitable work to over 500 attendees, who visited the stall and inquired about our diverse portfolio of projects. The event enabled us to highlight how our programmes impact the most disadvantaged people, not only across the world, but also closer to home in the United Kingdom – from our winter campaigns helping the homeless, to our support for victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. This was a major project whereby we distributed care packages and food vouchers to hundreds of victims and held community outreach programmes, to help those going through trauma.
City Giving Day was hosted by the Lord Mayor of London’s office, with Alderman Peter Estlin engaging with Al-Khair Foundation and other participant charities on the day and commenting on how he’s seen the good work charities such as Al-Khair Foundation can do first-hand, during his own personal visits to countries across the world such as Pakistan.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the social contribution the City of London makes right across this country.” said a representative for the Lord Mayor.
Shuaib Yusaf, the CEO of Al-Khair Foundation, added, “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity by Lloyds to showcase Al-Khair Foundation’s work and engage with potential volunteers who are anxious to engage in selfless charitable work.”
